I nominate Buzz for any chest massaging…..

Thank you sooooo much Precious and Buzz – I don’t know what I would do without this forum!!!

Gonna put Claire’s advice into practice from tomorrow – am looking forward to the days when I can eat anything as well Precious!!! By the way are you coming to the support group on Thursday evening? I’m going so, hopefully, if you are coming we will finally get to meet ๐Ÿ˜€

    Hi Phoenix

I can’t add much more and Precious has re-posted my advice, but the green beans sound like they could have been the culprit my love… They would be for me… They are quite difficult to chew to a pulp, which is what you need to do and even the really fine ones are a little stringy for us… things like green beans of any kind, celery, asparagus, etc can all be a little problematic.

Also, many people struggle with particular kinds of fish. Personally I can’t eat cod or any type of “meaty” fish. Salmon and lemon sole are my favourites and always go down well, as long as they are cooked just right and not too dry.

Hope the advice above helps and you are feeling better soon.

    Take care
    Claire

    Hi Guys

Am now 3 weeks out and had 2 weeks of relative ease…however, during the last week I’ve thrown up about 3 or 4 times usually after lunch or dinner!

I just don’t know what to do but it always feels as if I have something stuck in my throat and then up it comes. To be honest, I don’t think I’m eating too much as am barely managing a couple of tablespoons still and have avoided all high sugar, high fat foods…could it be that I’m moving through too quickly??

Then again, I had a low fat fish in parsley sauce today (which I’ve had before) with some green beans so it was all very soft food – yet up it came 15 mins later!

Aside from this issue I’ve felt fine and seem to be doing quite well but now I’m getting scared of stepping outside the house and eating in case I throw up! ๐Ÿ™

Any advice would be most appreciated – thank you.

Just To let you know ( according to my booklet from the hospital dietician) stringy veg such as green beans and celery on on a caution food list at the pureed stage, I understand they are hard to tolerate. The dietician mentioned it especially because they are one of my favourites.

I remember reading on the forum that someone (? may have been Buzz) said meals should take as long to eat as they would have done previously when we probably ate much more.

When my 2 ounce ramekin and teaspoon are out at mealtimes I do try and think of this and take a while to eat, also I do remember someonelse (Toni?) saying that smaller size cutlery can help. I launched a search of the kitchen for the Mothercare knife, fork and spoon set circa 1988 the children used, but so far, no luck, so still with the teaspoon!

    Hope this might help.

I brought some egg spoons from ebay and even though I am 11 weeks out I still use them, they are about half the size of a tea spoon. I also use baby feeding bowls to get the portion size right.
My only problem now is that even though I still stick to the regime I am not losing weight. I see the dietician on the 27th so am not going to panic until I have seen her. I have even cut out the snacks and just have breakfast, lunch and dinner all ramekin size or smaller.
Oh well, it was never meant to be too easy!
    Good luck

Phoenix I do plan on going Thursday, hubbie has his op on his knee tomorrow, but he said he is happy to still travel up there, obviously me driving. If he is too poorly after his op then clearly I wont be going, but if all is well I will be there and am looking forward to meeting you.

Hope things improve soon for you. precious xxx

Excellent news hun… glad you had a good day. It’s so easy to forget and eat too quickly, forgetting to make like a train (choo, choo, choo). Even nearly 10 months on, I still forget from time to time, but it does get much easier.
