    We understand why you want to lose the weight for the wedding. Meal replacements have not been shown to offer long term weight loss and don’t work well with bands since you would feel just as hungry as someone who has not had any surgery at all.

    Bands work with restriction and it is sensible to use it well but still enjoy a normal diet or you may become very hungry and even resentful.

    The most effective way to lose with a band is a diet high in low fat protein (chicken, fish, Quorn), low in fat and high in low glycaemic index (GI) carbohydrates. These include baby new potatoes, basmati rice, beans , pulses, lentils and wholemeal pittas.

    Complications are much more common in people who have had a tight band for a long period of time. We strongly discourage this.

    Remember, living with a band is not supposed to be an endurance test. Enjoy your food but chose it wisely.
