Can I ask what a MDT is?

MDT = Muli discipline Team, or in other words you see every one you need to see in one visit, Sugeons, Dietitians, Anistatist, Phsycoligist, and Specialist Nurse. You will be there most of the day but will know if they are going to accept you for surgery on the day. If accepted you will have your surgery 12 to 16 weeks later.

Lisa my lovely first of all welcome…frustrating.com springs to mind…been there done that and I’m wearing the friggin t shirt!!!! But hey July isn’t that far away and tbh..this will give you the opportunity to get yourself well and truly prepared for your op. I realise that whatever I say now is probably just going in one ear and out the other I was the same…nearly got done for harassment cos the postie was getting a earful from me every time he failed to bring me my letter from st Richards. It will come I promise, just have a little word with the bariatric team and tell them that you are willing to accept a cancellation appt at short notice (but don’t hold your breath cos they don’t get too many cancellations)

    Good luck keep posting

    Much love Ellie xxxx

    Hey Lisa.

Oh the wait for everything to do this this process is an absolute killer. Everyone else, at what ever stage they are at is feeling exactly the same, it’s exhausting and heart rendering. I’ve vented on this forum many a time and of course always been supported because we either feel the same or those who have already been through remember the feeling well. I know also although it is comforting to know others are going through the same, it doesn’t mean you don’t feel incredibly alone. Now having said that, as frustrating as it is to be set back, July isn’t as far away as it feels and hopefully once you see all your people and the team have time to talk you will be given a much better understanding of when the op will be, possibly even the date for it. Then time will really fly.

I also wanted to add don’t beat yourself up about lost weight going back on, like I said to you the other day, I’ve been up and down like a yo yo in the wait for a date. I think it is because your emotions are everywhere. People like us who suffer with food problems are really going to find this sort of emotional roller coaster a real struggle. Just take deep breaths and do your best and keep coming here to get support because you will always get it.

    Take care

Thanks Shelley I’m just so inpatient. But I am seeing its best then due to go in holiday in June. So its probably for the best. I’m just anxious to start my new life. And keep getting scared they will say no. Very emotional lol and I’m trying with the diet or more healthy eating but weighed on 2 different scales and their different. Places like this have been an amazing find for me. I am so glad to share concerns and happiness with others in the same situation. Thanks again for your reply. Take care xx

Hi Lisa, it’s not nice the waiting game, but it will come, my op is Saturday. I had what i called “my last fat holiday” in March with my husband, we had a lovely time, even if people did give me the look which said ” what the hell are you doing in a swimsuite”, i cant waite to go away again later in the year and be lighter and feel healthier than the last time.
Enjoy your pre-op stage, and your holiday, and look forward to the next, being a lighter you. The time will go very quick once you get back from holiday.
    Take care

I had my op in July 2008. It was brilliant as I could sit outside in the garden sipping iced water and not feel guilty for doing very little haha! However, by August, I was feeling so much better, I couldn’t wait to get out and about. July is a good month ;-))
