Obesity, Health and The Power of Advertising

    Hi there.

Hope you are all doing well.

I have posted this as I know I am an advertisers dream! Not necessarily with food anymore since having my bypass but with ‘stuff’ in general.

Having said that, I used to try every new food that showed up on my TV screen or was ‘pushed’ at my local supermarket. Ironically, I would be especially interested if it was a ‘health’ food. I was under the erroneous assumption that if I changed to low fat or sugar free food from the regular kind, I would eventually not be 26+st anymore.

My ‘shopping ‘vices’ are more likely to be clothes and shoes or bags (I have put a self imposed shoe shopping embargo on myself for a year as I literally could’t fit anymore shoes into the bedroom!) now but it still highlights the power of advertising. No wonder our children nag us for stuff – we are not immune to it ourselves!

Are any of you the same? I hope I’m no the only one!
