I am three and a half weeks in, and the last two weekly weigh ins I have not lost any weight! What an earth am I doing wrong? I am eating the same as I did the first two weeks. I am still on purée. Ready brek for breakfast, small yoghurt mid morning, well balance lunch (140ml), banana afternoon snack, and usually a soup for tea time. Yes, I am a little constipated, but normally only for a few days. Cannot increase any excessive yet, as need to lose some weight first! Struggling a bit with trying to get at least 1.5 litres of fluid down, but am not far off. Have studied my paperwork over and over, am doing everything right! Have read as many threads as I can on the forum. Anybody have any ideas please? I had the sleeve xx

    Hi Anne.

I know you must feel disappointed but you have to remember you have had major surgery. It takes quite a while for everything to settle down, heal and start working properly again. At this point in time, your main concern should be hydration and nutrition. I would, however, suggest you phone your team. they won’t mind a bit – it’s what they are there for!

Try not to get stuck on the whole ‘weight loss’ aspect of your surgery so soon. It is VERY early days. Constipation is a flippin nuisance so your team may have a suggestion or two on how to deal with it. Ring them today and let us know how you get on.

Thank you, I will. Although I have been through all my paperwork and am not sure who I am supposed to call. Surgeon? Dietitian? I have not been given a contact number. I haven’t heard from them since my surgery, have been feeling rather alone, until I joined the forum! X

I was exactly the same as you, worried that I wasn’t losing weight and bleating on here about it but to be honest I was told that I would not lose any weight for first two weeks. I lost 11 lbs but then stopped but I was told that I would lose a stone a month and that it was I do every month, it is however not evenly spaced however but I may lose say 1/2 a stone one week then nothing for a few days and then another three a gap and then by the end of the month hey presto a stone gone. Please don’t panic, although I still do as I’m scared that it will stop working, stupid I know! Don’t fret and eat good protein rich food, I struggled for awhile as I couldn’t keep meat or fish down but touch wood I am trying both again and so far so good. You will be fine and although I have had a bypass so slightly different op, the eating regime after must be the same, my saving grace was and still is hot milk or hot milky coffee, so if I am having a “dumping day” and cannot keep anything down, which now 14 weeks out tends to be triggered by stressful events, hot milk gets me through. Head up, put a smile on your face and just relax and let the weight slip away.

Mmmmmmilky drinks – heaven. If you buy some sugar free syrup to put in it, it’s absolutely delicious. And so comforting.

Have a look through these and choose the ones that appeal to you most….

    Amazon.co.uk: sugarfree syrup

If you have no contact number, either phone your GP to get it or ask for the Bariatric dept when you get through to the hospital in which you had your surgery.

It’s natural to overthink things at this stage, Anne. Please don’t panic. Everyone else has, at some point, experienced exactly what you are now. It’s why this forum works – we all bring different, similar or the same experiences that we can share. It’s a tough old journey this wls road – but you are NOT alone 🙂

I think is a marathon not a sprint , au though you do lose loads in the first six months and then it slows.down . Some times we have stall so our body can catch up with the loss Trust your tool . Milky drinks are so helpful . It helps boast your protein ( not having enough protein will sloe your weight loss down .) xx

    Great advice Kim, as always.

Protein doesn’t only come from meat – I think that’s something we can all tend to overlook. Even some vegetables have high protein content! Broccoli is one of them.

May I ask with whom you had your surgery, Anne? I would like to check whether or not this is the usual schedule.

You are doing brilliantly well! You must be thrilled with your success so far 🙂

ps Do you have a weight loss surgery support group nearby that you can attend?

Thank you guys, thought I would drop you an update! Three stone down , eight weeks in! Am happy with the loss. At last managed to see dietitian, apparently I am doing everything really well, exceeding expectations. Feeling a lot better, although had to fight to get my ‘six week check up’ with my surgeon. Was going to be in January! That would be nearer sixteen weeks! Managed to get it for ten weeks! Thank you again for all your support. Tried milky drinks, no good at the moment, just gives my heart burn! Will try again in a few weeks ?

Thank you so much for the update Anne. My goodness you are a weight loss demon!! I bet your team are thrilled with you. I’m so happy for you. Keep doing what you are doing and trust your surgery and your body to do the rest for you. We all get plateaux so just be prepared for them and don’t panic. Well done that girl 🙂

    Hi ladies
With my surgery booked for Friday this week I must admit this is a bit of a worry. I hope I won’t be unable to have follow-up with Mr Pring or the dietitian appointment because of the Xmas break. I was told when I saw the dietitian that she would put me in her diary for a slot with her on 19th December which I’m presuming will be confirmed once I’ve had my op. Really don’t want to be worrying about right now 🙁
