Yesterday evening, I was lucky enough to be invited for cocktails in the American Bar of the Savoy Hotel in London, to celebrate the birthday of a dear (American) friend.

It was not an easy journey for me and my asthma almost jeopardised the entire event. However, I made it and we were ushered into a fabulous, cosy little ‘snug’, along with seven other guests. There is no way on earth I would have fitted into that fixed table and semi circle seating arrangement before my gastric bypass surgery! I panicked for a split second, fully convinced that I would get stuck.

It was a wonderful evening with lively and funny friends. I made it there and back in one piece – just! This would never have been possible were it not for the skill and dedication of my bariatric team. Almost 8 years post bypass and I am still experiencing ‘firsts’. What a gift 🙂
