I had my first gastric bypass about 3 years ago and sadly it didn’t work. I then had a sleeve and that didn’t work either. I started out at 18 stone and I am now 16 stone and raising. Since after about 3 months after my surgery I was able to eat anything I wanted. My question is, can a gastric band be fitted after a bypass/sleeve has been done?

Not sure how you had a sleeve after bypass as there is nothing left to sleeve, are you sure it was not the other way around.

It is possible to have a sort of gastric band fitted, I think its called a Fobi Ring but there are very few surgeons fitting them.

I would suggest before you spend even more money as the Fobi is not done on the NHS you need some serious help as to fail with both sleeve and bypass is a serious indication that you are not able to work with this sort of tool especially in such a short time.

Sorry for sounding so blunt but you sound like you are just not the sort that WLS works for or the people around you are doing their best to sabotage you.

Perhaps others will be along soon with a bit more help than I have been able to give at this time but to me you sound like you need much more counselling before you go any farther in you surgical journey.

    Hi Eilish

I’m really sorry but I have to agree with everything Paul has said. I’m not a clinician so I can’t make any comments about the logistics of bariatric surgery, however, to have two different types of surgery and still not be able to make it work would suggest that you need to speak to someone who can help you understand why.

If you don’t understand why it isn’t working, it’s quite possible that it never will. I would suggest you refer to your GP for help with counselling, just like Paul has said. You could end up spending money that wasn’t a necessary expenditure. If you are an NHS patient, it is highly unlikely you will receive a third funding.

Sorry to sound so negative but I honestly can’t offer anything else by way of advice.

Please let us know how you get on.

    Doodah x
