well went to see chris pring for my post-op follow up, have lost just over a stone since op on 26th Jan, so far so good ! I was quite surprised that I had 3mls put in my band making it 4mls in total as chris pring puts 1ml in band during surgery… thought they only put 1 ml in at a time ! i feel quite windy at the moment though, had 3 teaspoons of rice whilst the syringe was in place to ensure i could swallow, it feels kinda strange… so back to fluids for 24 hrs then slush/mush so will see how i get on…
    hope everyone is ok !

    Fantastic Pauline!

That’s a stone in a month. You must feel on top of the world and so you should. Well done on a magnificent start to your weight loss journey.

    Hi pauline
Wow you seem to be doing really well. I’m back at my hosp (in taunton) next fri. Loss so far is 3stone 2lbs, but it is slowing down, and have found a few naughty habits coming back. But i want another 1 or 2 lbs off before next friday, so i need a good talking too……. If you know what i mean.
I think i need another top up, i only have 4 3/4mls in at the mo, so i think i need another 1/2 put in. Had a 1/4 put in about 2 weeks ago, but haven’t noticed much difference. Still learning 4 months on. The nice thing is that people are just starting to notice..

    Hi heidi,
I had an awfull night following the fill !! it was worst than post -op, excessive wind !! and i mean excessive..lols suprised the roof didnt blow off ha haa, just as well i have an understanding husband.. also had the urge to keep swallowing all night, didnt sleep much, rang kay my nurse specialist and by the time she rang me back i was feeling a bit better, stuck to fluids for next 24 hrs and things have settled, will be seeing her for future fills as Chris Pring bless him is sooo busy and the whole appt was really rushed ! about 10 mins … where as kay takes 45 mins for her fill appts.
I know what you mean about naughty habits, I still have chocolate but 3 squares a day or a one finger of a twix !, but i think to myself as long as im losing weight its ok, and i used to eat the whole bar before …lols
me and hubby also invested in a treadmill that is now an eyesore in our lounge ! so have been on it daily, started off with 10 mins, then gradually increasing… cant believe how hard you have to work shed the calories though.. did 20 mins yesterday and lost 50 calories !! ha haa so will keep working at it and up the tempo gradually.

glad people are starting to notice your weight loss now that must be the best encouragement !, mine does not reallly show yet as have loads to lose, just hoping i wont need a seatbelt extension on the plane this summer …

    take care

I had band fitted 4 days ago. I feel very sore and very tired. I really thought it would be a breeze, but it appears not. Does anyone have any tips on how I can feel better. I constantly feel sick and can’t stand any kind of smells

    Hi pauline
Thanks for your post, your little wind problem has made me chuckle for ages. I think because we suffer the same problem, it’s always from one end or the other in my house.
But i also want to thank you, for letting me know i’m normal……..i have a very sweet tooth, and i think i have had it under control for a few months, but the last few weeks it seems to of returned to bite my arse. So i too have been allowing myself a small treat each evening, but i feel giulty cos the scales haven’t moved. Surely a small treat cant ruin everything ……. Can it . I will start using my treadmill, as you said 15 mins is better then sitting on the sofa .

Anyway i hope things carry on well for you, i’m off to my hosp on fri. Think i need a little fill this time. Please keep posting your progress.
    Best wishes heidi. X

Hello there, i hope this finds you feeling a little brighter then when you started your post. I must be honest and say i never really had any problems. I took pain killers for about 3 days, and that was it. Found i could do light house work from day 5 and it just got better from there on. But having said that we are all different, and so you have to listen to your body. You have just had surgery, and you need to rest if that’s what your body is saying….
Take it easy, and let us know how you are in a few days.
    Heidi.

John I had to laugh at this one to..

Pauline well done that is really good it will be nice to see you next month at the group hoping you can still make it as i’m the only bander there at the moment so it would be good to share things.

I don’t feel as if i’m doing as well as other people I do feel maybe that is to do with what I eat at times because my husband is such a fussy eater he doesn’t do fruit veg or salad so when we eat out I manange then to get a healthier meal at times I do differant meals but it’s the cost of it all.

Also because I have a ilostomy I have to be careful in what I have and find I cant have to much of the salad and veg because it starts to block the stoma.I feel at times i’m fighting a brick wall, & i’m desparate to get 2 great big hernias done which they are that big I should go down 2-3 dress sizes alone.

Wow Cazza, you are certainly up against it. All you can do is your best. Your weight loss might be slower than other people’s due to the restrictions you have but it’s not a race. We all get there in the end, just some slower than others.

Could you not get all the veg and fruit you need via soups and fools? It sounds tedious and boring but it would definitely be a good move nutrition-wise. You could make it quite cheaply with what’s in season and make batches of it so that you are not spending too much time cooking separate meals. Just a few thoughts…

Hope you get your hernias sorted asap too. I’m sure that would make you feel more positive.

We are all here any time you need us.

    Doodah xx
