I am on day 4 of the milk diet and doing ok, until last night i went down with really bad diarrhoea, ( sorry for too much information )I phoned the hospital and they said I have turned lactose intolerant.

Following the diet they gave me now, but I feel a bit like a failure.

Has this happened to anyone else or just me?

I am sure it’s happened to many others before you, the milk diet can be a bit of a shock to the system, mind you I was the other way around when I did mine, after about 4 days I was constipated. Mind you I was a bit odd as i actualy got on really well with the milk diet and never once felt hungry on it. But then again every one is different, so don’t beat yourself up to much over it, and the alternative diet you have been given will be just as good at shrinking your liver.

Paul is right, quite a few people either already are or become lactose intollerant. As the whole purpose of the diet is to shrink the liver, any alternative you are offered must be equally effective.

    You are NOT a failure.

Luckily I can’t tolerate milk so I did the low carb diet, and really enjoyed it did the job and I lost weight too!

There you go! A suitable alternative that worked just as effectively!

Some people also try lactose free milk 😉
