    Congratulations on your weightloss. It is good that you have not relied too much on restriction to maintain your weightloss. Aiming to eat smaller portions of real foods is the best and most enjoyable way to live with any weightloss operation. We don’t recommend having a gastric band removed unless you have complications. Even an empty band will make a difference to your ability to eat.

    The vast majority of patients having their bands removed, will regain the weight that they had lost-sometimes more. Aside from this, it is not advisable to undergo an unnecessary operation since this involves a hospital stay and costs.

    The general rule of thumb is “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”.
