The headaches are definitely down to the sugar withdrawal or to give it more scientific name it is your body moving to the state of Ketosis, when we are in Ketosis our blood sugar levels stabalise because we are not producing sugar from the carbs we eat. Ketosis is the state our body goes into when we are on the Atkins diet, it means that the body is able to burn fat rather than the sugar produced from carbs, well that’s my understanding of it anyway, I’m sure someone far clever than me will correct me if I’m wrong though!! Hope that helps.

Yup, that’s how I understand it too, which is why it shouldn’t be done for too long 😉

    Hello,

Thank you for all your support. You are right it does and has got easier. Its amazing how you just don’t feel hungry. My headaches have gone now to so that’s good. I was struggling with the salty drink at first, i tried marmite and it was disgusting! but i found chicken bovril and it is really tasty so i look forward to that. My mum is just amazing and has done all the dinners for my husband and kids this week so i don’t have that temptation to pick as i cook so i don’t have any excuses! Really only 3 more days to get through….the weekend might be a bit of a challenge but i think i have got through the hardest part. I haven’t given much thought to the op, i am sure i will come Monday evening!!!!

    Hi Heidi,

Hope you are okay and getting on alright.

I can’t believe this week has past so quickly and i haven’t found the milk diet to bad. I have been very emotional today though thinking of my operation Tuesday…..thinking that i might not return!!!! silly i know but all these things run in to your mind. Like you did i am busy making sure everything is done for my husband and boys. My mum is excellent and moving in for a few days as my husband is self employed and will have Tuesday off but will return Wednesday unless i really need him. Mum is too good and if anything needs doing she will just do it so i am trying to make sure i do everything so all she has to do is sort the kids out ( as if that wasn’t enough!)
I’am excited just a little nervous at the minute.

John-thank you. you are doing great. If i get on half as well as you i will be chuffed to bits. I think you are having your 2nd fill Tuesday to?? so good luck with that.

    Hi jo
Oh hun all your thoughts are normal, and i truely think we all think the same. I wrote my will in my sleep 1 night, woke up crying and everything.
But i dont honestly think the hospital wouldn’t put any of us at risk, this is just like you changing a nappy….. They do this everyday.

Bless your mum, cos i do think you will need her flower, having 2 small children, bending, nappy changing, lifting etc etc . It was about 5 days for me, before i could do most things again. And even then i took it slowly.

Having a few eating issues right now, but nothing too bad… We’ll speak after you’re back on your feet.
    Heidi.
