The other thing about hidden sugars is that they can make us WLS patients quite ill, not just from dumping but also for those no longer on their diabetic medication, they might think WLS has cured their Diabeties but all its done is changed them from medication controlled to diet controlled, they are still diabetic and still need to watch their sugar intake, and with hidden sugars that’s not always as easy as it should be.

Thanks for that advice Paul – hugely important to diabetics.

In short – almost everyone should avoid them right? At the very least they will rot your teeth.

I shudder now when I think I gave my two children Sunny D before it was banned. However, I only gave it to them once as it made my highly allergic son go absolutely crazy. His pupils were massive, he had the shakes, a rash and was wheezing. He is allergic to most E numbers so in our house we have always read labels very, very carefully. Sunny D worded the labels so that you would need a degree in biochemistry to know what the ingredients were! So glad it is now banned in this country. Steer well clear. If in doubt, treat yourself to a juice making machine. You will know EXACTLY what you are drinking!
