The pre op diet or liver shrinkage diet does exactly what it says on the tin. It is not actually about weight loss at all. It is to shrink the liver to make the surgery easier for the surgeon and safer for you. The weight loss is a fabulous bonus and gives you a little taster (scuse the pun) of how it feels to lose weight quickly which is what happens to most people after #wls.

I make 95% of what I eat at home from scratch. It is the only way to know exactly what you are eating. After almost 6 years post wls, I still do this as it has become the new ‘norm’ for me. I rarely dump anymore but if I do, it is almost always when I have eaten out and there have been hidden sugars/fats in things.

What a learning curve it all is?
