This is one thing my GP and I had a discussion about the other week. There was another Doctor in the room who was doing his GP training. So we had like a three way conversation as it was the first time he had come across someone who had bariatric surgery. The doctor doing his training asked me about loose skin. I said at the moment it is under my arm (eg. bat wings). My GP said to him that people have bariatric surgery etc. The removal of loose skin is part of the post-op care in his eyes and the PCT/NHS are cutting back on ‘cosmetic’ surgery, but he sees it not as cosmetic surgery but part of the post-op care.
