Hi Pam,

Well done on losing the weight so far. I also have a friend in Glasgow who has had the same response as you and was told she’d have to attend a weight management class for a year before being considered!! Don’t despair, like everyone on here has mentioned, get yourself armed with all the information and if you can see a Bariatric consultant they may be able to strengthen your case for the PCT funding. I went privately to see Shaw Somers in June 09, he said I would be eligible for a bypass, I then went to my GP who applied to the PCT and was approved in December 09. I had my op on the 29th May 10 and haven’t looked back since.
If you hit any stumbling blocks just post as there’s always lots of support and help on here. Hope this helps. xx
