I am not an expert in such matters, but just because you don’t take metformin does not mean you are automatically not diabetic and taken off free prescriptions. I would suggest you talk to your GP and if all else fails, take Doodah’s advice and buy a pre-payment certificate.
I only say this because for a while, I managed to control my diabetes with diet (not any longer!), and my GP stopped the dreaded metformin but I was able to get all other stuff free still, as I was still classed as diabetic. However, they do change the rules, so best to check it out.
