Hi Roxy – you’re not drinking with meals are you?

Normally for me, if food’s got stuck it’s because I haven’t been concentrating on my meal and as a result I haven’t chewed enough… chew, chew, chew… ๐Ÿ˜‰ That should help you stop PBing as often… there are some foods that I literally can’t chew enough to get them small enough to go through my band (there’s a thread on the forum somewhere where I posted a list of a lot of them) and they are quite typical of a lot of bandsters.

The other thing that might make you PB is if you are eating a little too quickly and miss the “satisfied” feeling you get – it’s tricky to catch and if I miss it and go even one mouthful over I PB, the only thing to do is take your time and really concentrate on every mouthful, put your cutlery down between each mouthful and don’t get your next fork or spoonful until your mouth is empty. I was told that a meal should take around 20 minutes to eat, but never more than 30, and that is a small meal that would fit in a ramekin dish.

I tend to spend all morning drinking because my restriction is tighter in the morning and I can’t eat until lunchtime anyway. I have quite a bit of medication that I have to take and have to spread them out so they don’t get stuck, so end up drinking about a litre and a half before lunchtime anyway! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Do you drink tea/coffee? If you switch to decaf or herbal, they can count towards your 2 litres a day.
