Yay! I joined a choir a couple of months before my op. I sang in the back row and shied away from any attention. Now, 9 months post op and 10 stone lighter I am on the committee, sing in the front row and am doing my first solo at our Christmas show on Saturday! It’s such a buzz isn’t it! I would recommend singing as therapy to anyone who is up for giving it a go. Not only have I made loads of new friends, I have helped raise money for local charities, sung at 2 weddings and have developed a confidence I never knew I had. Go for it Lesley, it’s up there with one of the best things I have ever done! (Apart from WLS that is 😉

That’s absolutely brilliant Katy! You must be cock-a-hoop with your new found confidence.
My Sister joined a choir earlier this year after she had ended her unhappy marriage the year before. She now sings with the Military Wives and is in the video for their new song! It has given her so much confidence after years of being put down. I totally agree that singing/music is one of the very best therapies available. My sister has tons of new friends and has even been to Buckinham Palace. Plus she is in the charts with their new album ‘Stronger Together’. I think that song could have been written for us – we have to work so hard but we really are stronger together.
I’m absolutely LOVING this thread. It’s so positive and uplifting. Thanks everyone xx
