Hi Laura
I had my bypass in March last year and by feb this year I had lost 11 stone. I am now stable at between 8st 12 and 9 st (depending on the time of the month ha ha) and a bmi of 20.
At my heaviest I was 20 stone and a size 22. I had high blood pressure and I have a back injury which lost me my career as a nurse and left me walking with a stick and in constant pain.
I am now back in full time work, my blood pressure is low I walk everywhere and I have my confidence back (so much so that I am getting married next Friday!)
What I’m trying to say is that for me, this was absolutely the best thing I have ever done. I have absolutely no regrets….even when I’m so cold I can’t sleep or eat .
Like treeza says it takes years of heartache and decision making to get to the stage where you decide you need help but it is completely normal to get the jitters. It would be weird if you didn’t!
If you have thought this through enough and are prepared for some proper hard work and a completely new lifestyle which you will adapt to more easily that you think, then you are most of the way there.
By the way, I did the carb free diet as I am lactose intolerant. I lost 17 lbs in 2 weeks on it but found it complicated. From what I have been told, the milk diet is tough for the first 3 days and then it gets much easier and it’s simple as you don’t have to think about what you are going to cook!!
