Hi there

So sorry to hear you are having such an awful time of it at the moment.

I’m not a clinician so I can’t offer clinical advice/help but I have had a similar experience in the early days. It was all down to three things in conjunction: Moving forward with texture too fast, eating too fast and panic.

The guidelines are simply that: guides. They are not hard and fast rules. They can’t be really as we are all so different. I moved on to more textured food sooner than my pouch wanted to and was sick. So, I went back a stage and kept to that for a few more weeks. I also made absolutely certain that I followed the 20:20:20 rule plus the not drinking water either 20 mins before or after food so as not to overfill my pouch. The third element – panic – took a little more effort to conquer if I’m entirely honest.

No one likes being sick. NO ONE. So when you are, more frequently, the actual thought of it can make it happen.

So, my plan was this: go back to smoother food, follow the 20:20:20 rule and keep calm when eating. It worked. For me.

If you are still having trouble, please get in contact with your team. It is what they are there for. You won’t be seen as a ‘nuisance’ and it may be something even simpler than my solution to my own problem.

Also, just sip water all day. Sip sip sip. All day. Huge gulps are a no-no as is downing a whole glass at once! I still can’t do it!
