Hi all,

I’m pleased to say that I’ve never dumped, having heard about the effects of this on others I’m very glad about that. I don’t know if there is any reason why some do and some don’t. I will say that in the first few months after surgery I didn’t have any sugar at all. After that I introduced the odd thing here and there. I still try not to eat a lot of “manufactured” food but if I’m stuck and need a quick something I still look for >7% sugar on the packaging.

That’s not to say I’m perfect. I do sometimes have “bad” things. The difference being that these days, I’m satisfied with a tiny portion. And if I’m going to eat something sweet it is always after my main meal so the absorption is slower. For example my mum did a lovely roast dinner tonight and I had pork, potato, veg and gravy followed by two bites of fruit cake. Was bloody lovely too!
