I had my bypass back in March and I was told the only exercise I could do was walking until I had had my post op appointment and then after that was told only gentle exercise like swimming. I had a referal from my doctor for my local gym and when I met up with the lady that assess’s all the referal’s she said not to go into the gym yet as you need to let the insides heal, outside might have done but all the work was done inside and you have had quite a major op ( she was trained in weight loss surgery). She started me off with swimmimg and aqua exercise and I have just moved on to a exercise bike, I go back to her in a couple of weeks and then I hope to be in the gym itself. I swim at least 3 times a weekk now. Please don’t try to run before you can walk and let the healing process work.
Take care.
