I have only been vegan for 3 years, I had my gastric band fitted 2007 I think. It worked for me down to around 185 lb and I was happy with that weight but had to have the band removed due to an infection unconnected with the band surgery and having been over 300lbs I knew that I didn’t want to go back there. I gained 36lbs in the 7 months between surgery and recognise that my food issues are still there and have had enough therapy to know that they will be something I have to live with and I am so not prepared to go back to the life I had at my largest.
A vegan cake is healthier to a degree than a non-vegan cake but is still packed with fats and sugar (and trust me, I make very good cakes). My problem is more portion control and always being hungry than a rubbish diet although I like actifry chips crisps, vegan chocolate as much as any one. There isn’t a lot that isn’t available in a vegan form and I love to cook and to eat 😀
