In my very humble opinion, I think our biggest worry after surgery is not discomfort or taking time off work, but how the frilly heck are we going to survive without our ‘best friend’ – food – to turn to.

I learned very quickly that I needed to find something else to distract me as, even though I wasn’t physically hungry, my old enemy ‘head hunger’ was trailing behind me looking for a way back in. I chose exercise. Swimming to start with then I joined the gym. The natural ‘high’ you get after exercise is thrilling. Plus it helps with toning.

I know exercise seems utterly daunting when you are big but you know what, some of us learn to love it and it keeps head hunger at arms length – if you keep moving, it can’t catch you! 😉
