Agree with everyone else – listen to your body.

I had my gallbladder out at the same time as my bypass and I actually gave myself more time for that than I did the bypass!

I think it can tie in with the feeling that we don’t deserve the bypass or that in some dark corners of our mind, we think we are ‘cheating’ by having wls so shouldn’t give ourselves so much time to recover. What utter nonsense! Yes, it can be perceived as elective surgery but we are doing it to drag ourselves out of the obesity mire that could eventually kill us, after having cost the NHS a fortune.

We don’t have to justify ourselves to anyone is we make the surgery work!

Take as long as you feel it takes. Some people heal more quickly than others, regardless of what surgery they have had.
