Have just got back from church having taken communion. Have now realised that perhaps I shouldn’t have done it as I am on the milk diet. Hope it will be OK. Also mouth very dry. Am going to get some chewing gum today to see if that helps. Have resisted so far as I thought the chewing would make me feel hungry.

Hi Ali’smum

I too took communion when I was on the milk diet and I’m sure it was absolutely fine. If you had taken it on the day of your surgery that might be different? It is, after all, a sip of liquid and a thin wafer!

Chewing gum should be ok so long as it is sugar free. BUT, check with your team about any of this that you are worried about. It is what they are there for!

How are you feeling in yourself?
