I know this is a bit of an old thread, but this is my first post here and I haven’t come across other “revisionists” before. My story briefly is that I was around 230lbs when I had a band fitted in 2002. It worked really well and I lost about 100lbs over 2 years. In 2010 I lost all restriction and after investigation it was found the band had cut through into my stomach. Guy Slater removed the band in 2011 and I decided I could keep the weight off through diet and exercise (famous last words!). Anyway, a year later I had re-gained 60lbs and was starting to get worried that I would put it all back on again. I went to see Chris Pring and he agreed that revision surgery to a bypass was the best option and I had that done 10 days ago. I don’t know if it will be as effective as the band, but I do know that it was pretty much my only option. Now I just have to see what the result is, although early indications are good. I’ve lost 13lbs in two weeks. Would be good to know how others who have converted are getting on.

Hi Effem and welcome to the friendliest place around.

I’m sure our lovely ‘revisionist’ guys will be along soon to put your mind at ease regarding your recent surgery.

I’m a bypasser and I can tell you that it saved my life and gave me back a better one. I had mine July 2008 with Shaw Somers and St Richard’s hospital and have lost over 15st and kept it off. Hope you stay in touch as your experiences will be very useful for others who might be going through the same thing.
