Our bodies sort of go into shock – a kind of ‘famine mode’ so anything that doesn’t seen neccesary like hair and nails is last in the queue when it comes to importance. It makes comple sense but that doesn’t mean to say we have to like it!!

When women get very heavy, mother nature realises that pregnancy is not a good option so our periods stop – same with anorexics for the opposite reason. We cannot argue with at least 40,000 years of evolution I guess.

Heavy periods can be dealt with very efficiently with medication thank goodness. Funnily enough, I am menopausal and haven’t had a period for about 4 years but I had one last week (very, very slight) which totally dumbfounded me. Fortunately There is NO danger of a little ‘surprise’ baby!!!

It’s great that we can all swap our experiences on here and know that we are not alone.
