I had to wait three years for my surgery despite my BMI being….64!!! At the time, the BMI requirement was 60 in Hampshire. Can you believe that? 60? I honestly thought at one point that they would rather I had just died and then I would no longer have been a burden. Anyway, a new GP arrived at my surgery who was really on the ball and got it all through for me. I saw Shaw Somers a month later and a month after that I had my bypass. I would not be sat here today if I hadn’t had it – of that I am certain.

Keep trying. In wls terms a BMI of 37 isn’tat the high end but if it is making an impact on your health an well-being then it needs to be sorted – sooner rather than later. Maybe ask for a second opinion from another GP?

I hope you get the answers you are looking for but if you don’t, seriously think about funding it yourself if you are in a position to do so. It will be the best thing you ever do for yourself 😉
