What is Bariatric Rescue?

Bariatric Rescue, also known as revisional surgery might be the best option to reset or restart your weight loss.

What bariatric rescue treatment you can have will depend on a number of factors, such as your primary bariatric surgery and what difficulties you are experiencing. Examples of Bariatric Rescue are:

How does the Bariatric Rescue work?

We’ll first establish whether revisional surgery is the best option for you. You’ll have a consultation where we’ll discuss what difficulties you are experiencing and your future goals.

Where required we will investigate to check your initial procedure is functioning as expected. This will be done via a barium swallow under x-ray or via an endoscopy where a camera is passed down through your stomach under sedation or general anaesthetic.

Where the results indicate that there may be an issue with the initial procedure, we can discuss your options with you so that you can decide whether or not you would like to pursue further surgery.

What are the benefits of Bariatric Rescue?

Revisional surgery could help you get your weight loss back on track. For those who also have weight related issues including diabetes, hypertension and sleep apnoea, these can be significantly improved.

If you have issues with your current bariatric surgery we can help you look at ways to help you get back on track.
