With Easter around the corner it might feel like a challenging weekend to stay on track. With the chocolate temptation everywhere, family meals where you’re not in control of the menu and the general ‘holiday mode’ often associated with food treats can play havoc with your healthy mindset.
Firstly, don’t panic and think back to previous Easter weekends when you may have over indulged. Remember that this Easter is now the chance to put into practice all your bariatric tips including portion control, visualisation, exercising, and eating protein/fibre rich meals.
Here are our other top tips to keep you and you on track…
Planning is key
Help yourself to stay in control this Easter by planning your meals ahead. By having breakfast, lunch and dinner and some healthy snacks planned, it will make it much easier to stick to your new healthier life style, and avoid sugary treats.
On another note, we’re sure your loved ones will understand that chocolate Easter eggs are not high up on your wish list this year so perhaps just let them know this in advance. If you or your family are planning an Easter egg hunt why not include some non-food related surprises.
Have a protein-rich breakfast
Start the day right…. not only is a protein rich breakfast a nutritious start to the day but it helps to keep you fuller for longer and curbs your appetite later in the day.
Why not try making something new that you don’t usually have time to make, like smoked salmon and avocado, an omelette or vegetable frittata?
Shift your focus
Make the most of the weekend and embrace the holiday element. Shift the emphasis from eating to spending time with friends and family.
Getting active and enjoying a break from your day-to-day routine can be a very positive and energizing way to spend the bank holiday.
It’s also a great idea to include some exercise over the Easter long weekend, why not enjoy the spring weather with a walk or run outside. Not only will it help with your long-term weight loss, but a great way to spend time with loved ones. Let’s hope we have some good weather!
