Streamline Surgical are pleased to welcome Heidi te Braake to our bariatric team.

As you know, we are constantly striving to treat all our patients with care, concern and compassion; to facilitate your ultimate goal of continuous weight loss; to help you become the person you want to be.

Our dietitians play a key role in supporting patients on their weight loss surgery journey; giving you practical guidance on the most appropriate lifestyle and food choices.

So without further ado, we are excited to welcome Heidi te Braake into the fold.

Heidi will be teaming up with our Lead Nutritionist, Nicole Berberian at our head office, The Sudbury Clinic.

Time to get to know our new dietitian….

  • What is your background and training?

I qualified as a dietitian in South Africa 10 years ago, since then I’ve worked in the NHS community and acute setting before I joined the bariatric specialism 6 years ago.

  • What motivated you to become a dietitian?

‘I think it was a combination of my own struggles with weight and love of food, fuelled by having a family who were either fitness or food fanatics which steered me in this direction.’

  • And what draws you to specialise in bariatrics?

‘Back in the day, bariatrics was the part of the textbook which was ‘self study’, but always intrigued me. Then I got the opportunity to learn more and get some hands on experience and suddenly this was the most important part of the textbook.’

‘Bariatrics is an incredibly multidisciplinary dependant field which gives patients the hope and new lease on life that they are searching for and it’s such a privilege for me to be involved in that.’

  • Do you have any hobbies/ interests?

‘I enjoy my Saturday morning Pilates (a nightmare to get out of bed so early, but always worth it in the end). Running is my other love – although not too much further than 10km thanks!’

‘I also like the beach, a glass of wine and star gazing – preferably all three together! I come from a big family so it’s normally fairly chaotic but I really enjoy family time.’

  • What element of your role do you gain satisfaction from?

‘I strive to ensure that when a patient comes to see me, no matter what stage they are at, I want them to leave feeling clear and confident about the next step and cared for. This is the element of the role that gives me most satisfaction.’

  • What are you most excited about working for Streamline Surgical?

‘One of the missions of Streamline Surgical is to ‘Provide first class quality of care and compassion to all our patients’, I’m excited to be apart of a team who strives to do this as every individual deserves this.’
