Benefits of Personalised Dietetics

The benefit of receiving personalised nutrition advice has been highlighted in a recent study. Talking about the study, Streamline Surgical’s Lead Nutritionist, Nicole Berberian said, “ Anything that focuses the patient on what they are doing currently and highlights where improvements can be made has now been shown in this study to be key to the individuals making the changes.”

In the study, published in the International Journal of Epidemiology, 1,607 adults from Seven European Countries were randomly put into for different groups. The results showed that people are able to motivate themselves better when given personalised advice rather than following generic advice; such as ‘eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day.’

People often find it difficult to change their eating behaviours but having personalised advice and guidance encourages them to stay motivated to make the bigger changes.

Personalised dietetics has always been a key part of Streamline Surgical’s post-surgery care. Talking about this Nicole Berberian said, “As part of Streamline Surgical’s post operative care this is exactly what we seek to do. Rather than do a ‘one size fits all’ approach we have to take on board where each patient is at and move them step by step in improvements.

“For some this is straightforward and falls easily in place with only small tweaks needed to what they do already. Others will need more help to build the very basics of healthy eating that need focus meal by meal.”

At Streamline Surgical we understand the importance of nutritional advice and aftercare. They can mean the difference between good and great results. Contact us today to book a consultation with our expert weight loss surgery team.
