Question 2:

How do I choose whether to have a band or a bypass?

The choice between having a gastric band or a gastric bypass depends more upon your eating habits than your absolute weight. For instance those people who eat too much  at meal times might be more suited to a band, whereas those who tend to pick and snack during the day and perhaps enjoy sweets would be more suited towards a bypass.
