Will my GP be able to help if I want weight loss surgery?
Most GP's think of weight loss surgery as being a very extreme cause of action and some of them think of it as being highly dangerous. I think it is fair to say that GP's are now being better informed the place for weight loss surgery and only today on the radio there was a discussion about the first line treatment which is bariatric surgery for people who are above a certain BMI and nice guidelines also indicate that bariatric surgery is the first sort of treatment for certain patients. So it depends a little bit on how up to date your GP is and how interested they are in weight loss surgery.
