Why will I need aftercare if I have a gastric band?
Patients with a gastric band need their band adjusting every so often until they reach what we call the sweet spot, that is quite a specific place to get to so that the band is exactly the right degree of tightness to allow you to eat as normal a diet as you need and it may take a number of visits before you actually achieve exactly the right place on the band. Also these patients need support and follow up as they adjust to life without their weight.
