Question 12:

How much weight can I expect to lose after a gastric bypass operation

You are expected to loose anything between 50-75% of your excess body weight. It is highly unlikely that you will return to a normal weight after the surgery. So for example, if you are twenty stone in weight and your normal body weight should be around ten stone, you cannot expect to loose exactly ten stone in weight to return you to normal. It is likely you will loose anything between five to seven and a half stone of your body weight. Anything further is a bonus and normally down to somebody being very disciplined with their food intake and doing a lot in terms of activity.
