EndoBarrier® - a non-surgical solution for Type 2 diabetes

The EndoBarrier® is a new incision-less procedure, developed initially as a solution for Type 2 diabetes and good weight loss. It is a temporary procedure with the device removed after 12 months implantation, leaving no permanent changes to the anatomy.

The EndoBarrier® is a liner that fits inside a section of the intestine, creating a barrier between the intestinal wall and the food you eat. It helps you to lose weight by malabsorption, preventing calorie absorption along a section of the intestine, effectively shortening the digestive process. Results include a rapid improvement in blood sugar levels, reduced reliance on diabetes medications and weight loss.

The EndoBarrier® liner is inserted endoscopically through the mouth in a non-surgical procedure although it is performed under general anaesthetic. It takes just 30 minutes and is performed on an outpatient basis.
