Fat MK claims baffle health professionals after survey
HEALTH bosses are baffled after Milton Keynes was named as the fattest city in the country. The report cam following research carried out by pharmaceutical and healthcare company GlaxoSmithKline.
It suggested Milton Keynes topped the fat league table with people putting a strain on not only their health but also the NHS. As MK PCT spokesman said: “Obesity rates in Milton Keynes are in line with the national average.
“There is great support available in Milton Keynes for people who would like to achieve a healthier weight, and advise about physical activity and healthier eating is available through your GP practice.
Last year the citizen wrote about Bletchley woman Kin Smith who has a gastric bypass operation with Streamline Surgical, the UK’s largest obesity surgery unit. Now the company is advising people around the city to consider improving their health and reducing the cost of NHS by undergoing similar treatments.
