Specialist Bariatric Surgery Nurses

Elaine George qualified as a Nurse in 1978. Elaine’s responsibilities include organising the clinics, bookingsurgery, pre-assessing the patients and liaising with all the team. In 2007 she completed a DipHe in Adult Nursing and is also our full-time Streamline Surgical Bariatric Nurse Co-ordinator. Elaine works at both The Harrow Health Care Centre and The Clementine Churchill hospital.

Velia Hall is the clinical lead and is a specialist in bariatric surgical nursing. She has been with the servicesince it was first established at King Edward VII Hospital in 1998. Her role includes in-patient nursing care, out-patient assessment and telephone support. There is a large training component in Velia's role, teaching the ward staff nurses how to look after bariatric cases. she has completed the Inamed course in laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding.

Lisa joined the bariatric team in 2008 having worked on surgical wards for twenty years. She has looked after the bariatric surgery patients on a regular basis over the last 3 years. Lisa is now involved in our research projects as well as pre-assessment.

Dee Wainwright is a fully trained laparoscopic surgical care practitioner. She has attended an Inamed LAGB course and has been trained in laparoscopic adjustable gastric band management. She is first assistant to the surgeon in theatre.
