Heart Problems

Hi, was just wondering if anyone had any heart problems after their WLS. I'm 2 years post op and have developed palpatations and tachycardia, and have been feeling rubbish for the last couple of months.

My total weight lose is nearly 14stone. I am seeing a Cardiologist on Wednesday, but just wondered if anyone out there had anything similar.

Hi Andy, just wanted to say I hope your appt. helps sort this out for you and to wish you well. I know extreme and sudden weight loss does put a strain on the heart, and you have done amazingly well with your huge achievement, so well done with that, and hope to hear more positive news after you see the specialist. xx

Cardiologist doesn't think anything wrong with my heart, thinks its to do with my nutrition, concerned that i'm still losing weight over 2 years out so having some tests to make sure heart ok, then will have to go from there!

Hi Andy,

I suffered with tachycardia Pre bypass. It was a couple of years ago now but was very troublesome.

So much so I had two catheter ablutions over a three year period.

It does not trouble me at the moment but I am only 7 weeks post bypass.

It helps to stop all caffeine.

Have you been referred to a specialist?

Been to cardiologist heart all good, they think its to do with my nutrition. I'm seeing a gastroenterologist who will run some tests to exclude all the nasties, but basically my battery is flat and i'm not getting enough from my daily intake, although i do eat three meals a day and snacks a day.

He has suggested i eat 8 meals a day, not sure quite how at present, started today and am fed up with food already and its only 4pm lol. So will just have to wait and see if things improve.

Hi Andrea. So glad you got some answers even though the solution isn't exactly easy :-/ 8 meals a day seems rather difficult, even for a non bariatric!
