Episode 1
In the first programme of the series, the Food Hospitals experts meet 24-year-old Lauren, who suffers from an extreme case of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), seven-year-old Harvey who suffers from crippling migraines, twenty-five-year-old twin sisters Kristen and Maren who are trying to use food as a weapon against breast cancer and 44-year-old single dad Chris turn who is trying to tackle his type 2 diabetes with food.
Episode 2
In week two of The Food Hospital Gio, Lucy and Shaw meet Ian who is morbidly obese leading him to develop the potentially life threatening condition fatty liver. A mother and son who both suffer from psoriasis, like three generations of their family before them, come for help with their uncomfortable skin condition. The team also meet Rianna who is a teenager suffering from hair loss, and Sophie whose acid reflux is affecting her singing career.
Episode 3
In week three of The Food Hospital a 22 year old dancer comes for help with an 8 year struggle with Crohn's disease which causes painful mouth ulcers, sores and intestinal problems. We meet 18 year old and 27 stone Frankee who is about to undergo gastric bypass surgery with Shaw Somers. An ex Coldstream Guardsman seeks help with his peculiar condition of compulsive night time eating and a couple having problems conceiving see if they can improve their chances with a fertility boosting diet.
Episode 4
This week The Food Hospital looks at a dietary approach to managing excrutiating gout which causes Garrett, who used to love climbing and running, to now have problems with walking. Tristan seeks help with painful eczema but this condition may be only one element of a bigger problem. Suzi looks for help to expand her unusual diet of chocolate and pancakes and Debbie, a professional pool player, seeks help with depression.
Episode 5
In the fifth week of The Food Hospital GP Gio Miletto, Dietitian Lucy Jones and Bariatric Surgeon Shaw Somers meet Ellie who suffers from a rare and chronic odour disorder. A teenager, Toby, comes to The Food Hospital hoping to find a solution for his extreme eczema which sparks teasing at school. Michelle is a mother in excruciating pain due to gallstones which she says is more painful than child labour. The team also demonstrates an easy to make recipe for hungover heads. Dr Pixie McKenna investigates the health claims on packaging and reveals the results of the latest survey.
Episode 6
This week The Food Hospital welcomes patients with conditions from the common to the bizarre. Anne is a menopausal woman with hot flushes that are affecting both her daily life and her self confidence. Teenager Taigh seems to be a healthy fitness instructor but is terrified of eating vegetables. A photographer, Kate, also comes to The Food Hospital with a disabling disease that food may in fact be causing, and a pair of body builders with incredible appetites find out whether their diets really are healthy.
Episode 7
This week at the Food Hospital we meet 47 year old Alan who suffers from painful and embarrassing bloating but Shaw reveals that this isn't Alan's only health problem. 23-year-old Dawn's life is blighted by bad breath. She describes it as smelling of poo and is unsurprisingly self conscious when spending time with others so she's desperate to know what foods will help her banish her halitosis. Meanwhile, for another young woman called Steph, chronic fatigue syndrome has curtailed normal life for the past 13 years. Can Lucy and Gio's experimental plan help cure a controversial illness that has no proven causes? Joan is in her 50s and has high blood pressure, a common condition which can be fatal. Joan has lost many in her family to the condition and she's willing to do anything to avoid the same fate.
