St Richard's Hospitals bariatric service provides specialist surgical weight loss treatment for obese patients.

The service was established at St Richard's Hospital in May 2006 and now attracts patients from all over the country who benefit from the specialist care of the hospital's skilled staff.

As the largest NHS centre for the bariatric surgery in the South of England, the hospital currently treats over 200 patients a year.

The hospital's dedicated unit is staffed by nurses who provide specialist care for obese patients. It is fully equipped to ensure that a patient's stay is as comfortable as possible.

The intensive care and high dependency units based at St Richard's Hospital are also able to provide specialised care for post operative bariatric patients who may need the additional support that this service is able to offer after their surgery.

How to find us

From the A27 eastbound (Southampton/Portsmouth):
At the roundabout with the A259, turn left for Chichester
Continue to the third roundabout and turn left
Proceed over a further roundabout and at the next (large) roundabout, take the third exit into Oaklands Way
Turn left at the next roundabout onto Spitalfield Lane
Hospital Entrances 1 and 2 are on the left and signposted

From the A27 westbound (Brighton/Worthing):
At the large roundabout with the A285, take the second exit to join the A285 for Chichester
At the next roundabout, take the first exit to remain on
the A285, Westhampnett Road
Continue over a mini roundabout and at the next mini roundabout, take the second exit onto Spitalfield Lane
Hospital Entrances 1 and 2 are on the right and signposted.

By rail
St Richard's Hospital is a 20-minute walk from Chichester station, or 10 minutes by taxi.
Trains run to and from:
Worthing, Littlehampton and Brighton to the east
Havant, Portsmouth and Southampton to the west
Horsham, Gatwick Airport and London Victoria to the north

By bus
St Richard's Hospital is served by the number 55 bus service, which runs between Chichester city centre and Tangmere, and stops in Spitalfield Lane.

This service is operated by Stagecoach South and runs every half hour during the day. There is no service on Sundays.
